Distance learning: the biggest dream of students

Распечатать запись

Remote or distance education in modern times are nothing new. Official methods of distance learning technologies have been adopted in Russia, May 6, 2005. Nevertheless, the Russians have begun to use these technologies as early as the 1990s, despite the fact that the Internet has not been sufficiently developed in the country. In those years, Russia has a very small percentage of people were Internet users.

In Russia, the Internet was born in September 1990, when the first national domain. Su. Four years later there is another domain for Russia -. Ru. September 25, 2010 the number of domain zones. Ru broke the figure of three million. In 2011, the Russian Internet celebrates its 21st birthday.

Internet – technologies have led many Russians to get the benefits of distance education. This is the dream of those who were in “pre-Internet” days, but now they can only envy those students who live and study in the 21st century. The new generation can gain knowledge is literally in bed.

Many Russians remember the correspondence courses in English, which were extremely popular in the country in 1990. The course was organized by the European School of Distance Education. All the necessary materials – textbooks, workbooks, audiotapes, etc. sent to students by mail. Of course we are talking about the post. The man had to pay for the course, learn the necessary materials to perform exercises, and then send them back by mail. The teacher checked the job, then make a decision about the possibility of further training that person.

Such programs still exist, although in those days they did not have analogues. Currently, distance learning has become a real possibility in almost any college. This form of learning is able to solve many educational problems. Moreover, it gives an opportunity to study the people who are physically unable to attend college or other institution of higher education.

In 2011-2012, this form of training will be available to children in poor health in the Omsk region of Russia. Leonid Polezhayev, the governor of the region, noted that many children, thus, will have access to educational resources, regardless of their place of residence and health status. The project is currently intended for those children who frequently miss school because of health problems. In the future, the project will develop, and in 2014 it will be accessible to children with disabilities.

Distance learning has already been introduced in remote regions of the Russian Federation, as Kamchatka, Yakutia Yamal. In Kamchatka, the project began to develop in 2008. It also launched a project on the Yamal Peninsula, focused on children with disabilities. Last year, 31 children from the November Urengoy and participated in the process of distance learning. The project will develop as long as there is not cover all areas of the Yamal Peninsula. For this purpose it was allocated over 11 billion rubles.

As for the Yakutian, the country has its own institute of distance learning. It was established in 1996. Many people who live far away from the regional center, have the opportunity to pursue higher education. Technology for distance learning disabled children were put into practice only recently.

Center for Distance Education for Disabled Children is a public educational institution. The center was created within the framework of the priority national project “Education” for 2009-2012. Center specializes in e-learning disabled children from different regions of the country. It uses advanced computer technology. Families in which there are such children are provided with computer and other necessary equipment. In total, the center helps 235 disabled children from 22 municipal districts of Yakutia.

In distance learning has its own variation. People can choose the options that are closest to them in order to avoid monotony in the process of its formation. You can choose to chat classes using chat technology. There are also web-classes, which include conferences, seminars, business games, labs, and other options available through the World Wide Web. There is also an unsynchronized forms of learning that take place at special forums where students can ask their questions to teachers and to receive comments.

The internet and television conference. These classes are not so widely used, but they can be combined by a large number of students living in different cities, regions, countries and even on different continents. There is also another way which is not yet widely used. This method is only suitable for learning disabled children. This is the method of the so-called telepresence. Not long ago, Russia launched a project of R. Bot to create 100 robots. Mass production of robots has failed to start (a robot is about 100,000 rubles), but the new equipment is already being tested.

In one of the Moscow school was an experiment. Stepan Sopin not able to attend school for health reasons. The boy is suffering from lymphoblastic leukemia. The problem of its formation has been solved with the help of telecommunication technologies. The boy stays at home, but uses his computer to hear, see and speak with the robot. The teacher asks him questions and he answers them. The teacher can also see the boy through a special monitor, mounted on the robot. If the results of the experiment prove successful, the method is likely to be used to help children with disabilities.

For Russia, this new product. In Canada, for example, those robots were used since 2000. Moreover, at present, teachers can give private lessons via Skype. These lessons save time and create the illusion of physical presence.
